Seoul - Day 5

Travelling may not be as relaxing as one think will be. For not-so-rich people like me, the idea is to cover as many places as possible after spending so much money to fly there, even though its supposed to be free and easy.

The hectic schedule in the past few days took a toll on us, and we woke up only at noon on New Year's Day, effectively spoiling the original plan of going to Nami Island. We hastily came up with some alternate plans, and moved out after that.

First stop was Bukchon Hanok Village, a traditional Korean village that sat in between two palaces. While the place had been modernised, some houses from the ancient days have been preserved.

 




Education Museum which was not open that day because it was New Year.

We didn't stay there for too long; it was at the tourist office that we realised there were planned routes where we could walk to see and take photos. However, time was not exactly on our side, hence we did not continue.

Second stop: Han River and Banpo Bridge.

Han River is the one major river that cuts Seoul into two, and because North Korean spies had previously infiltrated South Korea by swimming through the river, the northern parts of the river today were heavily fenced up, which is quite sad actually.

This is the Banpo Bridge, one of the more famous bridges because the fountain on the bridge is the world's longest bridge fountain. Unfortunately, the fountain don't work in winter, which is one huge disappointment for us. If I were to go back to Korea again, this is one place that I will never want to miss again.


Ended the day with Nanta, which is a popular musical about four cooks preparing dinner for a wedding. Combines music, aerobatics, stunts and comedy. Prices were a little on the steep side, but the performance was nice.
