Initally i wanted to blog at around midnight, when yr2006 comes, and i also said perhaps i wanted to type out a new year resolution...

..until i am totally freaked out by a statement from an email which my CT sent to the whole class:

'those who do not manage to clear the re-assessment, let me wish you in advance all the best in your future endeavours. it is nice getting to know you as a student of 05S44. i hope you will still keep in contact with the class.'

No i'm not angry...he didnt say anything wrong..i'm just worried.
Don't get the wrong idea about my CT. He's a good CT..its just that i did not publish the full email here.

WTF?! Now on wednesdays i have consecutive 4 period-2 lectures in the bloody cold and echo-y and no handphone reception and underground LT 5!

And why am i going to school on friday?!?

Today is the first anniversary of the Asian Tsunami. Though one year has passed, images of how the violent tidal waves took the tens of thousands of innocent lives are still fresh in my mind, and the news reports of the memorials in the various countries just refreshed all of them.

It is a very sad thing to happen...humans seem so vulnerable and helpless when faced with natural giants. We should really count our blessings that a big piece of land protected us from the disaster and the people living there sacrificed their lives instead of us. Otherwise I think I may not be studying in the college I am in today.

It is even worse to realise that we need natural disasters to remind us people, across different countries and boundaries, of the need to unite and extend our help towards one another whenever possible. Somehow we seem to take peace for granted, and get ourselves obsessed with power and money.

Shall end this with a quote my friend wrote in her blog last year (I forgot who she is; quoted her in my blog last year): Mother nature has shown us humans tt we are not the ultimate rulers of this planet. The lady's still in charge.

Well spent a relatively lonely christmas. Chirstmas eve night was spent watching tv after all my friends were out partying and i had no one to chat with online. Luckily 3 DJs from yes933 kept me company from late night till 2am with their cheers and laughters.

Last night i decided that i cannot stand being kept out of the festival anymore, so went for a walk to Orchard with a friend.

Well...i should say it was the right event, but with the wrong person =P
Ok la..better than no one haha.

In all and all i received 3 cards...2 by snail mail and 1 by email, and a couple of wishes from the tagboard, email and handphone. No "many many presents from relatives" , no "human guests arriving" , and no "barren xmas tree" . Haha.

So fast year2005 ending liaox and year2006 coming liaox. Maybe i should also write a resolution of some sorts to kick off the new year.

Actually i'm quite excited about year2006, or rather, the end of it. No i'm not crazy; i'm not looking forward to NS. Swearing in my 2005 holistic report that I will be more optimistic, i see the end of year2006 instead as the end of my 14 years of education.

I think after my A levels I will write a thesis of my schooling years, down from kindergarten to junior college, noting down memorable events, complete with photos and secrets heh heh.

Like me getting slapped by a teacher.
Or angering a teacher so much that i almost got thrown out of the class, together with my bags.

Haix i should listen to my friends and stop thinking too much.

My good luck ended the day i blogged...waking up the next day(yesterday) with a fever and flu..haix.

My fever is gone..but my throat is still a little sore.

Wah the audit report for NKF came out liaox. Never come out still never mind, come out liaox really can make people flare. The charity shows say NKF like until very charitable, need alot of money to help the patients, and we trusted them. In the end? The guy is just a big conman!

Last time i was wondering why the N-Kidney-F set up funds for cancer patients and child patients. So they were to help him get more money huh.

He basically said everything that i want to say. Haha.
I wonder will he come up with a new entry regarding this audit result. I'm looking forward though.

It seems like Heaven's on my side recently.

Last monday i had a very lonely lunch because my friend wanted to go home. Bought lunch home and ate facing the kitchen wall.

Then i guess Heaven pitied me..so on Thursday i had lunch at parkway hawker centre with 9 other Icomp friends. Our lunches were even sponsored by the comp lab techs!

Then yesterday I was complaining that the weather was too hot, and it rained today!
Even throughout the rest of the day it was cloudy and not too sunny.

Hmm..i wonder whether my good luck can continue all the way till start of next yr..

Since young i have always liked my house.

My house is one of the few with :

1) Unblocked view of the surroundings from the living room window
2) Whole range of shops opposite my house..from Big Bookshop to McDonalds
3) A big park behind
4) One bus trip (or actually, if the weather is good, it becomes walking distance) from the Central.

The only thing bad is that the living room faces the South-West. So whenever there is a cloudless day like today, sunlight will shine directly into my house from afternoon to evening, melting all the furniture and making it impossible for a warm-blooded animal to stay in the living room for more than half-an-hour.

A thermometer in my living room recorded a room temperature of 31 degrees Celsius today. -.-''''' (i was really sweating)

And the room that holds this computer also faces the sun...so I can't use the comp in the afternoon..haix.

My handphone's red button (the one that ends a call and switches off my phone) is becoming half-spoilt..have to press damn hard for it to respond. It is the 4th button to be declared half-spoilt by me.........

One badminton girl from Korea who came to Singapore to compete died after being knocked down by a car.

Sad sia...so young and gone liaox...worse is she left with her dreams still unfulfilled, things still undone..she even didnt have time to say her last words.

If anyone noticed, whenever some school-going, young child dies, someone with authority, usually the principal, will step out and say good things about him/her, like getting consistently good results, well-liked by friends, good in sports, helpful etc etc etc, for eg for this girl, a very good player who aspires to go to Olympics.

I was wondering how a principal will know if a particular student "is helpful, and well-liked by friends".

That lead me to thinking what if I were to die one day. Wonder how the principal will say of me...

I commited a sin.

I should be studying...but instead yesterday I went to rent a movie to watch. Haha.

Anyway watched Hero...was about a man called Nameless who first spent 40 mins telling Qin Shi Huang how he killed 3 of Qin's most wanted assassins. Then he got a reward to sit within 10 paces of Qin Shi Huang to drink wine with him.

Then Qin Shi Huang went on to break Nameless' story, said his story was a total lie, but rather he himself was the assassin, and spent another 20 mins predicting what the actual story was, and also predicted that he needed to be within 10 paces of the king so he can kill him fast.

That was the first disc.

The second disc of 30 mins was about Nameless giving a third story, telling the correct version of the story, and why he was reluctant to kill Qin.

This movie actually gave a different opinion towards Qin's actions...was along the lines of if he was killed, then he won't unify China and saying that in the end, it was his enemy who truly understood him.

I like the screenplay though...the fighting scenes were clean and neat, and the music accompanying the fighting scenes was good.

Anyway to watch a movie without your mother knowing the timing must be correct. She went out yesterday afternoon and today morning. Perfect.

LINUX PROPAGANDA PART 2

Anyway i spent some time today updating my fedora. It was done after downloading and installing 247 updates in an hour. Haha.

The good thing is that there is an update alert icon in the system tray that turns red with an exclamation mark when updates are available.

While Windows XP just tell you that they are going to install updates (you can't say no!), this upate alert tells you exactly what updates are available for which programs (they even handle updates of OpenOffice and Gaim messenger!) and you can decide which to update and which not to.

And if you update the Kernel (the core of the system), they actually leave the old version intact so if the new kernel cocks up, can still go back to the old one. So thoughtful...

And now my Gaim messenger is much more stable liaox, no error messages liaox haha.

So I went for the grid course 2 days ago...people who watched news would have heard about it, and I was lucky enough not to be in the news. Haha.

Overall, the course was okay...though i had expected the grid to be much more flexible. It seems like its usefulness can only be tapped by reseachers doing some out-of-the-world calculations for now.

However, the best part of the course was not the course itself, not the food =p, but the chance to be with my good friends.

It has been a real long time since we were in the same room listening to someonre talk...ever since I was isolated from them a year ago. Yes we had frequent msn chats, but it can't be compared to talking cock with them in the face.

I thought i was abit too obvious though...sort of distanced away from my vj friends and sticking with my 3 friends throughout the course..haha sorry about that.

I envy them alot...because they are in the same class and thus, can talk cock to each other everyday. I won't mind someone talking cock to me everyday...haha..time passes fast when one laughs alot..but haix.

I was feeling bo liao just now..so went digging through Friendster for my seniors. Found some of them, Haha see most of them still in good shape...studying medicine la, in relationship la, in handsome army uniforms la, in New York la...

The Jzan guy is my CT rep(Its not Jzan though, they spelled it wrongly) If my class people happens to come across this, yes i have posted it on the class blog, but was deleted (kind of obvious who did it if it really happened). Haha.

I'm going for a grid computing course for the next 2 days..hopefully this course will be a useful one, and make me less guilty from seeing so many of my peers going for holidays, ocip trips, holidays jobs, job attachments, research attachments etc etc etc.

30 hours without broadband

Hmm blogging on a Linux now..haha..come to that later.

Well yup i went 30 hours without broadband. It started yesterday morning when the modem could not connect up to the Internet. It did not work despite efforts by me and my brother.

So..decided to wait for my father to come home first before deciding what to do. Meanwhile, i put my time to err..better use by installing Fedora Core 3 on my comp.

Called Starhub at midnight...but their technicians were busy...finally called back today afternoon and fixed the thing quickly.

Apparently we were new subscribers and they had missed out some settings I supposed...

Now I'm typing out this blog entry on a Linux. Linux is actually rather sluggish on my comp...I guess is because I installed quite alot of stuff. Haha.
Using Linux now is like learning how to use a computer all over again.
While Linux and Windows are similar on the whole, there are still striking differences, eg. a whole new lot of extensions!

So far so good....although Firefox is still not very good at displaying websites, and its Gaim instant messenger gave me alot of error messages the moment I signed in. And I can't find the option for group chat.

But i like this Gaim messenger for 2 reasons:

1) It keeps all the conversations in one window, so I won't have 10 windows on my menu while talking to 10 friends.

2) It actually tells me that my friend closed the conversation window! So means I will know if you dao me. Heh heh.

But then again, my fedora core is one version behind...maybe I will look out for newer versions of these programs.

Its amzing how those Taiwanese political candidates have the energy to go different cities every day trying to get support from the citizens. Last night on news they were showing the Taiwanese president yelling together with his party's candidates at different locations.

Actually i admire their patriotism towards the country, which transforms into this moltivation and energy enabling them to go all out.

Taiwan's political scene is so exciting. If only Singapore's can be half as exciting...haha.

Chinese language radio channels started off playing pure chinese songs. Later, english songs began to creep in and we can hear them occassionally. In recent years, japanese and korean songs can be heard on chinese radio channels too.

Last night, i heard a german song being played! (Or at least, that's what the DJ claims)

Just came back from school.

Its extremely rare to get a perfect bus trip, which to me means:

1) very little people on the bus,
2) one can sit at a corner at the last row with no one else around,
3) air-conditioner just right, not cold not hot,
4) weather just right, not sunny not rainy,
5) driving style of the driver just right, no sudden braking nor sudden acceleration,
6) no TV Mobile,
7) no noisy engines,
8) no bumpy roads,
9) no noisy children and hokkien-spewing uncles on the handphones.

(It takes 2 hands to clap, so on your side...)

10) a MP3 player with suitable songs inside,
11) not in a rush to go somewhere else,
12) not happy, not sad, not angry,
13) able to put down all your thoughts.

Simply heaven. And i happen to experience one today. Haha.

Its so comfortable that i don't wish to get off the bus...wishing that the bus trip can be longer, or simply, its goes on forever.

Anyway last night i was flipping through my 2003 sec sch yearbook and i realised that so many of my seniors around me were from ahs.

I do know my previous house captain was from ahs, but i didnt know the previous vice house captain was from ahs too. And in robotics, one senior told me he was from ahs, but i didnt know the other senior (which i was close to) was also from ahs.

And all except one were from the same class!

Then i recognised two seniors from my senior class in the handbook.
